Valerie Jarrett to Dan Choi: Aim your anger at Congress

I'm having some issues with Dan's choice to re-enlist when the injunction was not set in stone. But that's another issue for another time

I have some reservations about Dan Choi due to some of his past decisions, like going on that hunger strike. But at least he's doing something and for that I admire him.

I also am curious about his status. Can someone who was unwilfully discharged rejoin the service? Something tells me he is ineligible to serve and his application will be rejected. At least for now. Perhaps someday the Pentagon or the White House will issue an order that says that all personnel discharged under DADT will be accepted back into the service at their pre-dischange rank. That would be fantastic.

Truth be told, I should have realized when he announced on Twitter he was going to Times Square, that it wasn't a media op; But it was.

Nonetheless, as I noted elsewhere, there's no denying either the Obama Administration is mishandling the DADT issue quite badly, and as of right now, I can't see him making good on his promise to end DADT at the end of this year as he said he would at the beginning of this year.

No doubt there's going to be a whole lot of indecisiveness going on between this administration and people like Choi and GetEqual.
