The effort to repeal Gay Marriage in New Hampshire Failed

Ha Ha, NOM! The New Hampshire House said "Bitch, Please" on a bill to repeal gay marriage in the state.

The House voted 211-116 after 2 solid hours of listening to silly arguments. Most of the folks knew this wouldn't pass. In fact, if it did, Gov. John Lynch would have vetoed it.

I bet NOM is pissed that they wasted more money just to lose. Congrats, NH! You sided with equality.

Yes, and as a former resident of the Granite state this doesn't surprise me. NH's conservative roots are based in fiscal responsibility not legislation laced with religious bias.

The even better news is that this shows LGBT issues of equality are recognized in even rural parts of the country. Conventional wisdom suggests issues like Same Sex Marriage can only thrive in urban centers where the LGBT community is largest and most visible.

NH's largest city is Manchester (approximately 100,000 residents). Most towns have fewer than 10-15,000 residents and the northern two-thirds of the state is even more rural.

Let's face it, religious intolerance is becoming less tolerable. That's bad news for the Christian Conservatives and Tea Party members.

The proverbial handwriting is on the wall: people all over are changing. Great job, New Hampshire!
