History Made! The Rhode Island House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Marriage Equality bill

Well, well, well folks! The Rhode Island House of Representatives just made history by passing a marriage equality bill.

The vote was 51-19. Now the bill now goes to the state Senate. Word is their President, Teresa Paiva Weed opposes the bill, but will allow a vote. Let's hope it gets through the Senate, congrats RI!

It isn't just that it passed, but it passed with a clear mandate of 72%. I had said with just co-sponsors we had 56% locked. So the additional 16% was great.

It sort of puts a shot across the bow of Senate President Paiva-Weed. Even Rep. Christopher R. Blazejewski called out the Senate and told them to get their shit together. It was great to watch.
